事実上の基準？多分、ディフェクトスタンダード(事実上の標準)の事を言いたかったのだと思うが。
ディフェクトスタンダードを通信技術で知ったって?
笑っちまうよ。
競争の分野では1つの標準が全部を淘汰することもあるから(PC-AT等)そう思いこんでしまうこともあるかもしれない。

しかし、全分野でそうではない。
じゃあ、日本でも英語で会話をするんだね。
そんでもって、神様は一神教のアッラーだね。
日本の鉄道は狭軌なのは知ってるのか?

その国と時期、事情ににマッチした物が選ばれるんだよ。

グローバルスタンダードと言う言葉に騙されるな。

言葉を曲解し、拡大運用するとろくな事にならない。

自分はそうならないよう気をつけよう。

英語のdefectではなく、ラテン語のde factから来てるんでデファクトと表記するのがデファクトスタンダードですよ。

デファクトスタンダードについてですが、日本のコンテンツを
海外に輸出する場合は、その国の現地人に見せて、
倫理チェックをして必要な場合には作品をその国のために
変更していると思います。
アニメなどは昔からそういうチェックや変更をされているのは
有名だと思います。日本では暗いエンディングの作品が
米国のほうではハッピーエンドに作品が作り替えられて
いたりします。

例えばWindowsというOSも昔はメーカーが自由に
カスタマイズできたんですけど、あるバージョンからは
メーカーでのカスタマイズは禁止されてしまったらしいのですよね。
それが良いことか悪いことか、単純には言えないのが難しい
所だと思います。
分かりやすく言えば、外国からの輸入の映画で結末を日本人用
に変更できなくなったという感じでしょうか。
私も作品を作ってる立場ですから、そういうのを考える度に
複雑な気持ちになります。どっちの答えについても善し悪しだなと。
